Аннотация
Обрушение склонов и формирование подводных оползней на северном сегменте Императорских гор, являющихся частью Гавайско-Императорского хребта, изучалось с использованием батиметрических и сейсмических данных. Эти данные были получены в рейсе SO201-1а на научно-исследовательском судне «Зонне», проведенном в рамках российско-германского проекта КАЛЬМАР. Их анализ позволил выделить в рельефе и осадочном чехле подводные оползни и горизонты оползневых отложений, которые были образованы за счет четырех эпизодов обрушения склона. Два эпизода могли быть обусловлены активным ростом вулканов, когда их постройки не стабильны, а сейсмическая активность является наиболее высокой. Первый произошел, когда постройки формировались над Гавайской горячей точкой. Второй эпизод, вероятно, связан с повторной активизацией вулканизма из-за изменения направления движения плиты Кула в эоцене. Обрушение склона во время третьего и четвертого эпизодов было вызвано формированием нестабильных объемов осадочного материала. Этот материал выносился из Берингова моря, формируя дрифт Мейджи, и его объемы увеличивались по мере приближения Императорских гор к Алеутской островной дуге.
