Fragment of a peat section in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, about 1 km northeast of the Institute of Volcanic Geology and Geochemistry. Regional marker ash layers are OP (1500 ¹⁴C years BP) from Baranii Amphitheater crater at the foot of Opala volcano and KS₁ (1800 ¹⁴C years BP) from Ksudach volcano. Gray tephra layer between them is from Avachinsky volcano. Codes and ages of marker ashes (rounded to nearest hundred) according to Braitseva et al. (1997).
