Tolmachev Dol

 

 

 

Upper part of the soil-pyroclastic sequence in the Tolmachev Dol region, 8 km west from the Tolmachevo Lake and 4 km southwest from Chasha crater. Regional marker ashes from top to bottom: OP (1500 14C years BP) - from Baranii Amphitheater crater at the foot of Opala volcano; KS1 (1800 14C years BP) - from Ksudach; OPtr (4600 14C years BP) - from Chasha crater, Tolmachev dol.  Marker ashes are interlayered by organic-rich paleosols and ashes from nearby volcanoes. Tape at the right is marked at 20-cm intervals.
