Kurile Lake caldera deposits

Basal phreatoplinian ash, unit I of the Kurile Lake caldera (KO) eruption deposits, overlain by pumice fall of unit II. Pauzhetka village, 20 km west of the Kurile Lake. The KO eruption sequence rests on a thick paleosol, which marks a 1500-long period of quiescence in southern Kamchatka (Ponomareva et al., 2001).
