Section through the peat-and-ash sequence at the south foot of Kambalny volcano. The pit was dug between the hummocks of the mid-Holocene debris avalanche deposit.

Ashes from top to bottom: Kmb - from Kambalny phreatic eruption about 600 ¹⁴C yrs BP; KSht₁ - from Stübel Cone at Ksudach, about 1000 ¹⁴C yrs BP; KHD - from Khodutkinsky crater, 2500 ¹⁴C yrs BP; IL - both iron-stained cinder and underlying light ash are from Iliinsky volcano; DG II - from Dikii Greben' volcano, 4200 ¹⁴C yrs BP.
