Form and structure
The
stratovolcano is nested on the volcanic ridge of Karpinskiy merging
with Chikurachki volcano in the north and Lomonosov volcano in the
south. It is irregular massif with some summits and flank craters.
Volcanic activity
End of the17th
sentury – an eruption supposingly of plinian type.
1953, 1959, 1962, 1973, 2004 - solfatara activity on the eastern flank
of the volcano
Location
The
volcano is located on the Paramushir Island, in 60 km to the south-west
from Severo-Kurilsk, in the northern part of Karpinsky ridge joining
Chikurachki volcano in the north.
