Hazard synopsis

Potential hazards are caused by ash plumes, ash falls, lava flows.

Ash falls possible at:
Severo-Kurilsk (80 km to the north-east from the volcano)
Ozernovskiy (165 km to the north-north-east)

Form and structure
The caldera with diameter up to 5 km and depth up to 700 m. There is an explosive crater with lots of solfataras near the eastern flank inside the caldera (on the height 1,100-1,200 m ASL). On the outside eastern flank there is a second active crater with small cone and solfataras activity.

Location
Volcano is located on the Paramushir Island, 80 km to the south-west from
Severo-Kurilsk, in the southern part of Karpinsky ridge.
