Kamchatkan and Northern Kuriles Volcanic Activity
June 24, 2016, all time is UTC
SHEVELUCH VOLCANO (CAVW #300270)
56.64 N, 161.32 E; Elevation 10768 ft (3283 m), the dome elevation ~8200 ft (2500 m)
Aviation Color Code is ORANGE
A growth of the lava dome continues, fumarolic activity and incandescence of the dome summit and hot avalanches accompanies this process. According to video data, a small hot avalanche collapsed on south-western flank of the lava dome at 14:06 UTC, an ash plume rose up to 4 km a.s.l. and drifted about 10 km to the north-west of the volcano. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the lava dome.
KLYUCHEVSKOY VOLCANO (CAVW #300260)
56.06 N, 160.64 E; Elevation 15580 ft (4750 m)
Aviation Color Code is ORANGE
A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. According to video and satellite data, the lava flow continues to effusing on the south-eastern flank of the volcano (along Apakhonchich chute). Satellite data by KVERT showed an intensive thermal anomaly over the volcano. According to videodata, two rocks collapses into Apakhonchich chute were observed at 21:15 and 23:50 UTC this day. Ash plumes drifted to the west and later on north-west from the volcano.
ALAID VOLCANO (CAVW #290390)
50.86 N, 155.56 E; Elevation 7672 ft (2339 m)
Aviation Color Code is ORANGE
A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano.
BEZYMIANNY VOLCANO (CAVW #300250)
55.97 N, 160.6 E; Elevation 9453 ft (2882 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
A moderate gas-steam activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed a weak thermal anomaly over the volcano.
KARYMSKY VOLCANO (CAVW #300130)
54.05 N, 159.44 E; Elevation 4874 ft (1486 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
A weak activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed a weak thermal anomaly over the volcano.
