(11) Volcanic Activity Summary: | Strong explosive eruption of Chikurachki volcano was observing on 28-31 March. Ash plumes rose up to 4 km a.s.l. and extended for about 570 km to the north-east, south and south-west from the volcano on 29-31 March. The volcano was quiet from 31 March till present. Chikurachki volcano is not monitored with seismic instruments. KVERT has satellite monitoring and receives occasional visual observations of this volcano. KVERT continues to monitor Chikurachki volcano. A moderate activity of the volcano continues. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft. |
